Odyssey

History & Name

Odyssey Athletics was founded in 2025 in Edmonton, Alberta, with one clear purpose: to give young athletes a place to grow through basketball and fitness. The name Odyssey comes from the Greek word for ‘a long and eventful journey,’ and that is exactly how we see the game. Every athlete’s path is filled with challenges, discipline, and growth. Reaching a higher level takes time, perseverance, and the right guidance. Odyssey Athletics was created to be that guide.

Our Mission

At Odyssey, our mission is to develop adaptable, high-IQ players who can thrive at any level, from local leagues to professional systems. With years of college and overseas experience behind us, we prepare athletes to step into any team, system, or role and make an immediate impact.

Our goal is to give athletes a competitive edge, spark motivation, and encourage positive lifestyle choices. We want Odyssey to be more than just a training program. It is a place where athletes and fitness seekers can grow, chase excellence, and build a relentless belief in outworking the odds.

Philosophy

Our philosophy is simple. Athletes improve fastest when training feels intentional, competitive, and game-like. Every session at Odyssey is designed to demand focus, discipline, and effort while giving athletes the detailed feedback they need to grow.

We believe small group environments bring out the best in players. Training against real defense forces athletes to make quick decisions, compete under pressure, and learn in live situations where skills actually translate. In private sessions, we slow things down, refine the details, and tailor drills to each athlete’s needs so they leave better than they arrived.

Basketball, though, is only part of the journey. At Odyssey, we care about the person behind the player. We coach with honesty and accountability, and we teach athletes not just how to work harder, but how to lead, communicate, and carry themselves with confidence. Our goal is to help them succeed on the court and to build the habits, values, and character that last long after the game is over.
